INSANITY MAX:30 Results: This 41-Year-Old Dad Lost 34.2 Pounds in 54 Days!

Keith Waucaush lost 34.2 lbs. in 54 days with INSANITY MAX:30. He entered his results into the Beachbody Challenge, and won the $500 Daily Prize for March 24th!

Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
Before Beachbody, I was your stereotypical 41-year-old male — married, two kids, shift work, bills, and a mortgage. I had the same problems and excuses everyone has to not pay attention to themselves and sacrifice health. I had ballooned to 268 pounds! This was the heaviest I have ever been in my life. I was drinking almost a case of beer a week, eating fatty foods, and not exercising. I had started many times to exercise and diet, but always fell off track when I would not see great progress. I would become defeated and return to finding comfort in drinks and food. I racked it up to being older and not burning calories effortlessly like I did when I was younger. I started to hide in bigger and bigger clothes rather than accept what was really being said by my health. I was wearing 42-inch jeans and XXL T-shirts. I hated my picture being taken, because I could no longer suck it in and make my gut and chin disappear for the shot.

What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
Seeing pictures of myself from side angles I didn’t know were being taken. I would say, “My god… this is how other people see me!” I became mad at myself for letting my health take a horrible decline.

What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody help you overcome that challenge?
My greatest challenge was living on a lake road. A lot of social activities take place, and that always seemed to deter me from even starting, because such-and-such was happening in a week. I’d say: “I’ll start after that… then well such-and-such is happening in a few weeks after that. I’ll start after that.” There was always something happening that I could delay my program to get healthy. I had to accept that there was always going to be temptation, and that I had to find the common sense and strength to not have fear of missing out syndrome. That I could go to social events and be healthy. I would brew up a large travel mug of green tea and head out. I would eat the veggie tray that someone always brought. After one or two events, it wasn’t hard to do and made for great conversation with the group.

What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
I like that I could do it at home. I didn’t have to travel, change, work out, change, and then travel home (essentially tripling the time I needed to work out). I could get up, get changed, and be in the homemade gym in 10 minutes. I really had no excuse why I could not complete the workout that day.

Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
My results have been better than I ever could have imagined! The eating wasn’t very hard at all, and seeing results every single day was very motivating! I became more limber. I did not get winded literally bending over to tie my shoes. I felt like I was in my 20s again! The fat melted away! The clothes hung off me! The muscles started coming back! My achievement I am most proud of is the dedication and discipline I summoned to complete the program.

How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
The program has reversed the hands of time in my mind. I have not been 226 pounds in at least six or seven years. Even at that age, I was not this active or healthy. I consider myself younger now. I have returned to playing hockey. My 15-year-old son now works out with my wife and me. We eat healthier as a family and have become closer because of the great things we have achieved together as a family.

How did participating in a Challenge Group help you reach your goals? How did your group support you and keep you accountable?
Coach Tar had a closed Facebook group of like-minded people starting programs to post and keep themselves accountable. It was here that I could post without fear of ridicule from the general Facebook population. To see others’ results and troubles was motivating! At times, I could not wait to upload a photo to show others how MAX:30 was kicking me in the butt!

How did your Team Beachbody Coach support you on your journey?
Coach Tar, a personal friend, was always supportive and full of information. It was because of her great dedication and success that my wife and I even selected Beachbody as our fitness program.
